Meet Mrs. Watson
My name is Shelly Watson, and this is my 12th year in education and in Katy ISD. I taught 1st and 2nd grade prior to becoming a School Counselor. This is my 5th year as a school counselor and I love working at Alexander Elementary. I obtained my Bachelors of Science in Interdisciplinary Studies from the University of Houston Victoria in 2007, and my Masters in Counseling from the University of Houston-Victoria in 2014. I have my state certification in school counseling K-12, and am a member of ASCA (American School Counselor Association) as well as Chi Sigma Iota: School Counseling Honor Society.
I believe the key to success is building positive relationships. I feel that building relationships will allow not only students, but parents, and staff to feel safe to come to me and share their concerns as they arise. My goal is to support students emotionally, socially and academically. I love meeting with students and providing different strategies that they can take with them. I will also support students and teachers by providing guidance lessons throughout the year. I believe open communication with parents and teachers is vital in students success. I am excited to be part of such a caring and kind community here at Alexander Elementary. When I am not at school I love spending time with my family and friends. My husband is a Captain and Paramedic with Channelview Fire Department. I have two amazing and active girls, my oldest is in 4th grade and my youngest is in 2nd grade both here at RAE. We have two dogs, Gumbo (French Bulldog) and Kate (German Shorthair Pointer). We spend a lot of our time at cheerleading practice (go Woodlands Elite!), our lake house and ranch property, and at home with friends and family relaxing by the pool and making memories! |
